This was my grandma’s pendant—I never wore it, but now I rock it as a geometric ring thanks to Vinca!
Jess, NYC
My broken chain became a bold, chunky bracelet. People ask me about it all the time.
Aarav, Austin
I had a single sapphire earring from my mom—just one. Vinca turned it into the center of a statement necklace that’s so me. She would’ve loved it.

Heirloom Jewelry FAQs
Yes, yes, yes! Missing a gem? Broken clasp? MIA earring twin? We’re pros at filling in the gaps with creativity—think new materials, fresh structure, and a whole lot of Vinca flair.
Yes. Not every treasure is about carats and karats. If it means something to you, it means everything to us—lab-grown, costume, or sentimental mystery-metal included.
That’s where the magic starts. Bring us your memory, your dream, your Pinterest board—we’ll help you turn it into a wearable story. No heirloom needed.
Absolutely. Our master jewelers evaluate every gemstone under high magnification prior to unsetting. We take extreme precautions with fragile vintage stones, emeralds, and antique cut diamonds to ensure complete safety from start to finish.
Yes! We can melt down your existing 14K, 18K gold, or platinum to cast your new setting. If your original metal is alloyed or worn, we apply its trade value directly toward fresh, high-purity precious metals.
The cost of an heirloom redesign at Vinca Jewelry typically starts between $500 and $2,500+, depending on design complexity, additional accent stones needed, and metal casting requirements. Using your own heirloom gold and diamonds significantly reduces raw material costs.
Usually around 3–5 weeks, depending on the design. Art takes time (and sparkle), but we promise it’s worth the wait.
We routinely reset heirloom diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds. Harder gems like diamonds and sapphires carry zero to minimal risk during the unsetting process. Delicate or softer organic gems (such as opals, pearls, or turquoise) are thoroughly inspected under magnification in our atelier before unsetting to ensure structural integrity.
Absolutely. This is one of our most popular heirloom services in Kansas City. We can take a multi-stone heirloom ring, brooch, or necklace and divide the gemstones or melted gold among multiple custom pieces, such as matching pendants or stackable bands for siblings, children, or grandchildren.
Yes! We can melt down your inherited 14K, 18K gold, or platinum to cast your new custom setting, preserving the exact physical connection to your family heirloom. If your original metal contains heavy solders or alloys unsuited for clean recasting, we can apply 80% of its current market gold value as a direct credit toward fresh, high-purity precious metal.
